1. Why did you decide to do a boudoir session?

wanted to surprise my fiance with something really special and personal. This was also a good opportunity push the boundaries of my comfort zone and try out a new (rather out of character) experience!

2. How were you feeling before your shoot? Any thoughts going through your head?

I was excited but felt extremely nervous and impulsive. I had to keep reminding myself that lingerie is not too different from wearing a lacy frilly bikini! What was probably most nerve racking for me was having an intimate photoshoot in the presence of someone I would have only just met.

3. Now that you've had your own photo shoot, how was it?

I feel more confident, more sexy and completely astounded that I managed to pull it off! It was nerve racking at first, but the photographer Chris is so calm, friendly, patient and understanding that I soon felt right at home. I appreciated his professionalism and was thankful for his guidance and reassurance throughout the entire process. You can trust Chris to work his magic & produce amazing shots :)

It was amazing to see myself in such a beautiful light and I'll treasure these photos for the rest of my life.

Interview with Miss K

Why did you decide to do a boudoir session?

It was coming up to my ten year anniversary, partner's birthday, our wedding, I've been attending the gym regularly for the last six months and it's something I've always wanted to do in my "middle age" for posterity.

What made you decide to hire our studio for your photoshoot?

The professional response and your own studios. Other photographers required hiring a hotel room or had responses that were "cute" (colors, lots of fonts) but not professional. The costs were clear up front. I appreciated the attachment sent beforehand that answered a lot of questions (finding lingerie in Sydney is tough!) and my expectations were clear going in.

How were you feeling before your shoot? Any thoughts going through your head?

Very excited leading up to it but very nervous going in on the day. Looking back, I could barely hold a conversation with Chris while getting my make-up done.

Now that you've had your own photo shoot, how was it?

Excellent. I mean, personally, I cringed through the whole thing because it was just so out of character for me and I'd have trouble hyping myself to do it again because it was hard work (thank you for all the reminders to arch my back and breath through my mouth). But really excellent. Chris was professional the whole time, I felt like I was in a safe space, thank God that air-con was blasting because I was so nervous, I trusted his technique and really, really appreciated his guidance as I had no idea what I was doing. I'm sure it was a lot of work for him too so all credit to his efforts. I also appreciated seeing a range of photos beforehand (sweet to more provocative) so I knew me getting naked wasn't outside Chris' comfort zone.

What would you say to someone considering doing a boudoir shoot?

Absolutely do it. I've been telling my friends all week it was one of the most empowering things I think I've done as an adult and I've walked taller since. It was amazing to see myself in such a beautiful light and I'll treasure these photos for the rest of my life.

Now this is unusual...

... unusual because I am usually behind the camera not in front of it.

Earlier this year I was honoured to be asked by the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography) to present 2 workshops on boudoir photography and posing. The event, the Hair of the Dog 2017 was held in Queensland and attended by our colleagues and friends in the industry.

It's always a bit daunting presenting in front of Australia's best photographers. I was shooting live with a model and my camera was hooked up to a projection screen.

Here are some images of the workshop, with me trying my best not to look too ridiculous while explaining the poses to the model and the audience :)

After a photoshoot we always send out a questionnaire now to find out a bit more about how everything went. Here are some of the recent responses. One question we ask is...

Why did you decide to do a boudoir session?

With my wedding rapidly approaching, I decided to book in for a boudoir session as extra motivation to get into shape and look my absolute best for my big day. I have always admired women who had the confidence to do a boudoir session, to appreciate and celebrate their femininity and sexuality.

Elegant boudoir with Laura - Sydney Boudoir Photographer

We were so humbled to receive this email from Laura after the photoshoot.

"Having professional photos taken is something that I've wanted to do for a long time. Chris and all of the staff at Sydney Glamour Photography helped me to feel confident in taking this step.  Having my make-up and hair professionally done on the day made me feel beautiful.  Chris is a skilled photographer that made me feel instantly at ease and comfortable.  He artistically captured my look in a variety of outfits and poses.  I now have a stunning portfolio of photos that I will forever cherish.  I realise that my looks and body will change over time, but I will always have this photo session to fondly look back upon.  The only difficult task was choosing which photos to keep - so I purchased all of them as I just couldn't decide which ones were my favourites!"

Cassie - Sydney Boudoir

Cassie, wow we had such a great photoshoot. I could go on and on about it, but Cassie was kind enough to send me an email after the photoshoot to share her thoughts. With her permission I am sharing these images and her words:

Posing in front of a camera was never something I was good at, unless it was a selfie taken from above and cropping out the body. Looking through a lot of my current pictures of myself, all I have is selfie headshots… bit boring. But when it came to lingerie and boudoir shots, as excited as I was to try something new, I was extremely nervous. How the hell do I be sexy in lingerie?!
Boudoir glamour makeup
Having the photoshoot with Chris was amazing. It was a huge boost of confidence for me and I walked away with some absolutely fabulous pictures. I was extremely nervous when I first arrived, but Chris was amazing. He showed me some examples of past work and talked me through what styles he wanted to try, asked what I wanted to try, what I was comfortable doing and what I had restrictions on.
Plus size boudoir
Dressed in my first outfit, we began. It took a while for me to get comfortable, but Chris talked me through some poses, things to do, what to look at etc. to get me started. After a few shots we got into the swing of things and I became more comfortable.
He made me feel so comfortable in my own skin and by the 2nd outfit we were laughing and having fun! I totally forgot that I was standing there in lingerie
sexy plus size boudoir
Being (mentally) comfortable in clothing for me is a challenge. Being comfortable in lingerie is a rarity and being comfortable nude (ish) is a joke! The fact I was in front of a camera was the most daunting thing EVER! But honestly, looking back at the pictures, I am so happy with them! I look at them and think “I look so good”, “I look hot”, “Woohoo, Sexy!
Sexy curvy boudoir
I never imagined I could look good, feel good and still want to show everyone photos of me in lingerie!! This for me was a HUGE step towards body confidence and I haven’t looked back!
Sexy plus size women
I want to do another shoot and let loose a little more. Bring out more of my wild side!! I honestly owe it all to Chris! He made me feel so comfortable and that helped bring out my sexy side! And that sexy side wasn’t a cropped headshot selfie! It was a full length photo of me in lingerie

Miss K - Boudoir Photographer for Brides - Sydney Boudoir

Miss K was about to get married overseas; just before heading off we did a sexy boudoir photo session.  Miss K ordered a box of prints and a fine art album. She was able to give the prints to her fiance on the wedding day and the album was ready after their honeymoon.
Miss K came in feeling a little bit nervous since she had never done any kind of photoshoot before but we very quickly settled into the boudoir session and had a lot of fun.
Check out her wedding heels, love the Badgley Mischka.

Miss K has a really interesting job and while she gave us permission to use the images we can't show you her face. No she is not a dentist :)
